Unlock deeper performance insights with MyVA v.3.6.1

As video and performance analysts, we all understand the vital role that data plays in shaping a team’s strategy, refining player performances, and ultimately driving better results on the field. With each new feature added to MyVideoAnalyser, we aim to make the process of analysis even more insightful and streamlined, helping analysts, coaches, and players achieve their goals more efficiently.

Now, we’re excited to introduce two powerful new features in MyVideoAnalyser v3.6.1 that will enhance your analysis workflow: Line charts in reports and the ability to select camera angles for MyVA Remote sharing.

1. Line chart in reports: Track performance over time

One of the updates in this version of MyVA is the introduction of line charts in the reporting tool. A line chart is a data visualisation tool that plots data points on a graph connected by straight lines. It’s commonly used to show trends or changes over a specific period, which makes it perfect for tracking team performance over time.

Why use a line chart?

For performance analysts, line charts offer a clear and immediate view of how different metrics evolve throughout a match or season. It allows for better decision-making by providing a snapshot of performance of a team or individual over time, not just at isolated moments.

Let’s take a look at a couple of examples:

Example 1: Comparing competition during a time interval

Imagine you’re analysing the intensity of a match between two teams during a particular time interval. With a line chart, you can easily compare how each team’s performance evolved—did one team consistently outpace the other? Did they have a strong start but fade out? A line chart will give you this clear visual representation of the competition between the two teams during that period, making it easier to pinpoint where the game shifted.

Example 2: Tracking team entry into attacking area

In a sport like hockey or soccer, tracking the number of times a team enters the attacking area (circle in hockey or penalty area in soccer) is essential. Traditionally, you might count the number of entries within a time period, but this doesn’t show you the flow of the game. Now, with the line chart, you can track how the total number of entries into the circle evolves over time. This provides a much more detailed view of a team’s offensive pressure, allowing you to see if they become more aggressive as the match progresses or if their attacking momentum dwindles in specific segments.

These insights provide coaches and analysts with excellent data support to assess the changes in the team’s game process, pinpoint areas for improvement, and recognise successful strategies.

2. Select camera angles: Share the best view with MyVA Remote
As video analysts, we know that camera angles are critical in analysing key moments during a match. However, when you’re working with a team of coaches and assistants who are watching the game in real-time, it can be overwhelming to navigate through all available camera views on MyVA Remote on a iPad while trying to focus on crucial moments.

To improve this, we’ve added a new feature to MyVideoAnalyser that allows you to select which camera angle to share with the MyVA Remote app. This feature allows you to share the most relevant and critical views with the coaching staff, enabling them also to zoom in on key moments without the distraction of switching between camera angles.

By providing the best possible view of crucial plays directly to the bench or assistant coaches, they can make quick decisions or corrections without missing important moments. This streamlined approach saves time and ensures the team has immediate access to focused footage for in-depth analysis, all while staying engaged with the live game. It guarantees that no critical event is overlooked, even if it's unfolding at the edge of the action.
